To ensure efficient synchronization of master data, a leading German supplier to the automotive and mechanical engineering industries relied on the technical foundation of SAP Cloud Integration (formerly SAP Cloud Process Integration, SAP CPI) as middleware. To obtain expert assistance, experts from CAS AG were consulted. Particularly in the case of diverse and complex IT architectures, the focus of master data integration is on the various languages, protocols, and data formats used for data exchange.
Using an agile development approach, an efficient integration solution was created to process any number of IDocs in Salesforce 360 on a daily basis using SAP Cloud Integration. In addition to developing the integration solution, CAS AG handled test management, process documentation, and support throughout all phases of the project.
In detail:
Using the Scrum methodology for agile development, a series of iFlows was created that are connected to the ProcessDirect and JMS channels. This makes it possible to process any number of IDocs daily using SAP Cloud Integration and to consolidate mapped data into bulk uploads. One major advantage is that it protects Salesforce from overload, which in turn helps prevent it from crashing. The integration architecture supports three separate Salesforce systems, each of which requires its own mappings and login credentials.
In addition to the development work itself, CAS AG also took on the management of the development and user acceptance tests, as well as the documentation of the complex process. In addition, we carried out the production rollout with Hypercare, implemented several adjustments and change requests, and provided long-term support throughout all phases—from development through production. In addition, new developers and users were onboarded for the integration.
In addition to the robust integration solution, the supplier to the automotive and mechanical engineering industries was able to leverage further synergies by expanding the development guidelines and the standard logging solution for all future developments in cloud integration.
- Custom logging scripts written in Groovy were gathered from the system’s existing integrations, consolidated, and used to create a single global script for all use cases. This includes logging any metadata depending on the context, as well as payload logging in all special cases and error scenarios, including anonymization in XML and JSON formats.
- A template iFlow now serves as a template for all new integrations, so that this standard logging is automatically used in all new iFlows.
- Later, a Splunk integration was also added, and the default logging was optimized for it.
