With the support of the business process and technology experts at CAS AG, Gries Deco Company has developed a first-class inventory planning solution using SAP technologies. The operator of the Depot home decor and furnishings stores uses high-quality forecasts based on the SAP CAR module Unified Demand Forecasts (SAP UDF) for its in-house development. With a graphical user interface for its in-house developed inventory planning solution, Gries Deco Company provides its buyers with a high degree of transparency regarding inventory levels, sales, demand, and planned delivery times to support their decision-making.
The new scheduling tool significantly optimizes inventory management at Gries Deco Company. Before it was introduced, the company’s buyers had to determine order quantities based on printed lists showing monthly sales figures. The purchasing department therefore approached the retail company’s IT department on its own initiative to request a new, forecast-based tool to support its work.
With the support of CAS AG, the company has now developed a particularly user-friendly solution using SAP’s Fiori app technology, which—unlike the previous system that relied on monthly data updates—now provides a view that is updated daily. The new tool guides buyers through their tasks using task management. Inventory levels at the distribution center and stores, as well as sales figures, are updated in real time thanks to the SAP CAR technology platform. Based on the SAP UDF, the system generates a purchase order proposal for the buyers, who can edit it if necessary and create the purchase order directly from the system.
